Welcome in the fall season with a rejuvenating retreat at The Thimble Island House, Branford, CT. Once a hotel in the Thimble Islands built in 1846, the Retreat venue is now a beautifully restored family home with water views from every window, Victorian covered porch, game room, library, large grassy meadow for strolling and a private beach and dock.
Join us for a weekend of restorative mindfulness meditation and mindfulness-base yoga. There will be free time to write, read, stroll the grounds…basically rest and relax as you say farewell to summer and welcome the changing of the season.
Rooms are double occupancy with single occupancy arrangements possible.
Cost is $550, all inclusive with a $50 discount if you bring a friend.
Logistics and Weekend Schedule:
Arrive Friday late afternoon/early evening September 22nd in Branford CT at the Stony Creek dock and a water taxi will bring you out to Pot Island (short 5 minute commute). We will have healthy vegetarian supper waiting, with gluten free options. We will have a meet and greet session after supper and leave time for a stroll around the peaceful grounds.
Saturday and Sunday will be spent in formal meditation practices and mindful restorative yoga, invigorating yoga and yoga for osteoporosis.
Saturday afternoon we’re offering a special workshop designed specifically for MBSR instructors. In this 2 hour workshop we will explore yoga as a mindfulness practice, a meditation-in-motion. We’ll use the lying down and standing yoga sequences used in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course, emphasizing both how to bring mindfulness into the practice of these sequences, as well as how to teach the sequences, including adapting them for yoga practitioners with special needs (chair adaptations and other adjustments). This session will be very helpful to MBSR teachers, yet will facilitate all participants’ development of a more mindful, playful, and joyful approach to their yoga practice.
Saturday evening enjoy a special musical performance by singer, songwriter and fellow yogi, the infamous Sal Nunz!
There will be free time to write, read, or swing in the hammock. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served, vegetarian with gluten free-options.
Departure Sunday via water taxi to the Stony Creek dock will be arranged for after lunch although accommodations can be made for other times if necessary.
